Answers to the most common questions about OEM honeycomb core material for Airbus nose radomes.
What is OEM-qualified honeycomb core material?+
OEM-qualified honeycomb core material is a core specification released by the aircraft manufacturer and compliant with the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM). CRS Aviation additionally supplies it pre-formed, so it can be installed directly in the nose radome repair without thermal moulding.
Which Airbus models does CRS Aviation cover?+
Cone and lateral zone cores as well as complete repair kits are currently available for the Airbus A320 family and the Airbus A350. Material for the Airbus A380 is in preparation, with first deliveries planned for Q1 2027.
What is the difference between pre-shaped and manually formed cores?+
Manual forming requires cutting, moulding, vacuum setup and an oven cycle of around 4.5 hours, roughly 6 hours per core in total, with rework risk. Pre-shaped cores are ready to install immediately, and some of our clients save more than 6 hours of labour per core.
How fast does CRS Aviation deliver?+
Shipment is ex works Munich (Incoterms 2022, FCA) via courier services, cutting turnaround to days instead of several weeks.
Is there a minimum order quantity?+
No. CRS Aviation ships without a minimum order quantity, whether individual segments or the complete repair kit. Pricing and volume discounts are quoted individually on request.
How much of the Airbus fleet does the CRS portfolio cover?+
With A320 and A350 nose radome material, CRS Aviation covers around 90 percent of all in-service Airbus aircraft worldwide, roughly 12,425 of 13,827 aircraft.
Does CRS Aviation ship internationally?+
Yes. CRS Aviation ships worldwide ex works Munich (Incoterms 2022, FCA) via courier services, so MROs and airlines outside Germany receive their honeycomb core material quickly wherever they are based.
